A minor update while I revisit this project.
Changelog:
- Add “E” as a configurable button (commonly used for showing inventory)
- Add “Tab” as a configurable button (default for viewing player list popup)
If you’ve already got Minecontrol running, just start it up again (or click the link below) to get the latest version.
As usual, the links:
Click to run Minecontrol for Minecraft (Java 1.5+ via Java Web Start required)
—
Update: note about the installation for Windows users:
Running this creates a start menu/desktop launch link.
- Use the created link or the link above to launch the app.
- If Google Chrome won’t run it, try again in Internet Explorer.
When double-clicking from Windows Explorer, Java doesn’t load the native libraries needed to talk to your controller, so you will see no devices in the dropdown list (I think this has something to do with security).
Hi Josh, I am trying to launch your minconrtol app, but both on my Windows and my Mac machines java outputs the same “unable to launch application”-error message.
I am not 100% sure, but I think theres something wrong with the download. Can you tell what to do/fix this? I’d really like to try minecraft with the xbox controller! Here is the exception:

Hi, very excited about version 1.1.2 it’s working much better than 1.1.0, using Win 7 64bit and Gamepad F310. But the downloaded .jnlp doesn’t list devices in the pulldown. When I run from your link above (not downloaded) then it does list the devices and I can use it. Other difference I notice is when I launch the downloaded file, Java 7 starts. When I run from your link, Java 6 starts, but I don’t know if that is part of the issue. Other than this, I am still having a problem as someone reported in 1.1.1, that the mappings are not consistent, e.g. a mapping to key I works in the game like it is Space or F5, etc. Thanks for the help!

Hi again. Apologies, I just re-read your comments above “When double-clicking from Windows Explorer, Java doesn’t load the native libraries needed to talk to your controller, so you will see no devices in the dropdown list”, so this explains part of my problem. However when I run it from the link it did not create a shortcut. Having created a shortcut to this link, I notice it is different,
http://update.joshjcarrier.com/minecontrol
than the shortcut created for the 1.1.0 version:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe -localfile -J-Djnlp.application.href=http://update.joshjcarrier.com/minecontrol/launch.jnlp “C:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\5\3e77bec5-7df8a8a0”
So I wonder if you can comment on the difference in the shortcuts.
Thanks,
Sparkle

Hi Josh, are you gonna update Minecontrol at some point to save the configuration for the controls? I’m finding it annoying that i have to change it every time?

Hey, having trouble running Minecontrol in the new Java 7u5 environment (app not signed error). Had been running in 7u4 with no problem, but now even re-installing that doesn’t seem to work. Had to back up Java 6 to get this to work at all. Much prefer to run this app to Xpadder, but would like to keep the most recent version of Java on my PC. Any response would be great at this point.

For everyone with launch problems: seems to be related to Java 1.7 — I’ve got to update my dev machine and test that out. In the meantime, possible solutions: sticking to Java 1.6 for now, or trying to clear out your Java’s junk directory (http://www.inductiveautomation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=27291&sid=c5b56717ae0ad42e1ae8c4ec3d53980d#p27291 ). Otherwise, hang on…

Hello Josh, first off love your program and thanks for sharing it! It works great for my wired controller but not my wireless with an adaptor. My PC reads it but not your program.. Any ideas on what I could try?

Any idea whether the regular XBOX controller will be supported? I like my old remote and don’t really want to change. It wouldn’t only be XBOX remotes. Any remote where the triggers are counted as buttons would be a nice addition. Maybe something like allowing users to have 12 buttons instead of the standard 10 that the 360 uses.

Hi Josh,
Trying to install minecontrol but after downloading and launching it appears to be stuck on “Downloading Application”. Can you advise if this is an issue? Its been about 30 mins now since launching.
Thanks

I’m having an issue using my right thumb stick on my xbox 360 wired controller. When running your program it registers the right thumb stick and shows it’s working, but for some reason when running Minecraft the right thumb stick does not do anything. All other buttons work but i’m not able to look around making the control useless. I have no idea what to do. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the program, tried everything to no avail.

That’s odd GG I’m using the same setup. Is your Java up to date? I wish I could duplicate that issue. I would be a little more helpful.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and
gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but
I had to tell someone!

Hello Josh,
Is the Xbox 360 wireless controller for Windows7 that I am trying to use with Minecraft 1.6.1 and my PC compatible? I have and use Java-7, the software that came with the controller, a 64 bit Windows base PC, and Windows base Minecraft 1.6.1. Only the right joystick gets a response. My six year old grandson loves the game so I am trying to set it up so we can enjoy it together when he visits.

Pourquoi s’embêter à télécharger et installer vous avez
besoin PSN CODE GENERATOR place .

Hi Josh I need some help. It worked fine for a while and now I’m using forge for MineCraft and I have the bleach mod both for 1.6.4. Now it is unable to launch application. It said it was a stack overflow but I tried deleting it all but still wouldn’t work. Please help me.
